Simple Earrings

What you'll need:
  • 2x Headpin (silver or gold)
  • 2x 3mm Silver/gold metal/plastic bead
  • 2x Feature bead (this can be anything from 6-12mm, and can be any colour, material shape etc. that you like!) In this example I've used 10mm snowflake obsidian beads.
  • 2x silver lined bugle beads.
  • Round nose pliers (or, anything with a fine tip)
  • Cutting pliers.
  • 2 x Ear hooks (silver or gold)

Notes: These types of earrings are extremely simple to make. You will be able to make them in a few minutes, so the instant results are very rewarding. You can experiment with any types of beads you like, so your only limit is your imagination. You can make some beautiful pieces with this technique.

  1. Thread the feature bead onto the head pin first, followed by the 4mm metalic bead, and then the bugle bead.

  2. Measure up from the top of the highest bead approximately 8mm, and cut the wire here (with your cutting pliers).

  3. Take your round nose pliers and make a small loop (approx. 3mm in diametre), leaving a small gap.

  4. Put the loop of your ear hook through the small gap.

  5. Close the small gap with your pliers.

  6. Repeat with the other earring.

  7. For a variation of this design use an eyepin instead of a headpin and attach a hanging bead.
